Where to Stay in Boracay Island: W Hostel Boracay

By Anne Elizabeth Apolona Gumiran - 11:58 PM

Part of our Panay Island backpacking itinerary is a trip to Boracay Island. Prior to the trip was a quest to find cheap accommodations. Just then, we found this hostel - a smart choice indeed for travelers!

Unique Boracay accommodation experience for an amount less than 500php, you say? Yes, W Hostel got it all for you.

For only 400php (per head inclusive of breakfast), my squad and I had a great unique experience in this dormitory-type hostel in Boracay located at Station 2, few meters away from D'Mall. It's just a tricycle away from the port in which the ride costs 150php ($3)/ ride.

What's unique about it are concept of the hostel itself and the services that they offer. It showcases different fun-tastic beach-themed 3d wallart in each floor of the building which you can be artsy with starting in its entrance. Walk a few steps and upon your turn on the latter stories of the building is a long corridor with green doors facing each other - he door to the rooms. At the other end of the corridor is the shared bathroom. Each room is air conditioned and fanned with free Wi-Fi access and has 8 double-decked bunk beds with lockers at the bottom. Each bunk, by the way, has outlets and a small pin light. Another thing that I love about this hostel is their clean bathrooms equipped with warm showers and blow dryers lol.

And yes, there's a pool at the roof deck. They hold pool parties twice a week in here. Aside from the pool, they also have hammock, few workout equipment and poker desk.

As aforementioned, breakfast is included in the accommodation. They serve it from 7am to 10pm at the common room at the second floor beside the lobby. Breakfast includes porridge, an egg, loaf of bread and various spread, juice or coffee. You can always come back for more of these except for the eggs. It costs 10php. What I also loved about it is it's self-service. After eating, we washed the dishes (of course the ones we used only). Another good thing about the kitchen? You can bring your own food and cook in there. You can also use their utensils and even store food in their common fridge. They also have rice cooker and microwave.

Their common room is the bomb! They also call this one the media room. Aside from its coziness and the vibrant colors which played with my eyes, there are several things that you can do in there. You can play darts, PlayStation, Wii and other board games, read books, do yoga and a lot of stuff!

So if you're gonna book a flight to Boracay, try as well and book to this hostel and get this unique experience, too. Ours was booked through booking.com. Might as well book earlier. Another thing, if you'll be cancelling reservations or say for instance, one of your friends cancelled prior to your trip, cancel the reservation at booking.com because if you won't, you will still pay for it.
