Cabanas Dine and Bar: Another Instagram-Worthy Restaurant in Tagaytay City

By Anne Elizabeth Apolona Gumiran - 5:14 PM

Along the array of food joints in Tagaytay City lies a tropical-themed restaurant at the edge of the upland which overlooks the iconic Taal lake and volcano, sounds fairly inviting.  The walls painted with murals bursting in summer shades and the few palm trees lined up at the side make a perfect background for your Instagram feed. You get a touch of a little tropics in daytime with a dose of sunshine and fresh air but not a salty one. Wait til you delve into a Filipino food adventure where the ones in your plates is more than what you will expect.

Cabanas Dine and Bar is a newly opened restaurant in Tagaytay City. It is open from 11:00 AM to 2:00 AM making it among the best spots in the town to have lunch with the family at noontime due to the relaxing view of the Taal lake that you can visually savor as you go down into an exceptional food adventure. Also, it is quite a place to chill and spend the happy hour with the gang as it is open til late at night; surrounding yourself with good music from the live band on Saturday nights with the view of the city lights below and the fresh air with cold breeze enveloping you through  the night.

The Soft Opening

At around 11:00 AM of the 8th of December, 2018, the invited guests and the owners and shareholders assembled at the second tier of the restaurant which holds its center area for the blessing. The ceremony was quite a solemn one.

The people behind Cabanas Dine and Bar: Ms. Vicky Angcaya Villegas, Russel John Perido Pendon, Yoshinob Onda, Ms. Arlene Alonzo and Ms. Jesan Mari Lingan and Ms. Elreen Ma. Lei A. Floria. Quite young minds!

The Food

After the blessing, everyone was served with a sumptuous lunch composed of Tagaytay's finest bulalo, bam-i (a noodle dish that resembles Korea's japchae), a whole fried chicken and pinakbet with bagnet. For the dessert, we were given ginataang halo-halo. The food, as I noticed, may be the usual ones in the menu of an ordinary Filipino restaurant but theirs was with a great twist in taste and presentation at a surprisingly affordable price. They have added a flavor to the usual home-cooked Filipino dishes and transformed it to a good subject for an instant Instagram food porn goals. As I've roamed around and asked people about the food, they said they loved it and it's far better than most of the food they have tasted in the restaurants that they have tried making them wanting to return in Cabanas Dine and Bar. Hence, I confirmed that my taste buds had the same experience as theirs!

Overall, I had a good dining experience. The food was indeed great with the price ranging from 120-675 pesos. The ambiance has also become a factor which made me enjoyed the food even more. I'd definitely recommend this as well to those people who are looking for a chill night with some booze.
